What a great time of year! We have had an awesome holiday season. Christmas was so relaxing and so much fun. We are so blessed and getting to celebrate the birth of Jesus with Avery was sweet. She really enjoyed singing happy birthday. Next year I think we will bake a cake and have our "Jesus birthday party" that my parents did with me and my brother every year. She will be old enough then to understand a little bit more. We were up before sunrise Christmas morning, but not because Avery was excited about what Santa brought her. She has just wanted to be an early riser the past two weeks. I'm hoping she goes back to sleeping until at least 730 soon! Watching Avery experience everything was great. I tried taking her picture in front of the tree, but as soon as she spotted cookie monster in her stocking the picture taking was over. :) After cookie monster, it was the boxes and paper she loved. The clothes and toys were boring compared to the slide she made herself with a left over box.
We have alot of traditions in our house, but the Christmas ones are some of my favorite. Some of the ones we continued this year included cutting down our tree, mother/daughter cooking day with my mom, buying each other an ornament, opening them on Christmas eve and staying in our pjs all day on Christmas. We started a new tradition this year of watching a Christmas movie every night the week of Christmas, which quickly brought our attention to the fact we were lacking in the Christmas movie department. Never fear, we have remedied that with a new collection of 20+ Christmas movies :) So maybe next year it will be a whole month of Christmas movie watching. I love watching a movie with the tree glowing in the corner!
Avery turned 14 months in the midst of the holiday season. She is now 21 pounds and running everywhere. She is miss independent and wants to walk everywhere on her own. She babbles nonstop, uses her signs to communicate with us (she says please, more, eat, and sleep), and loves Tucker more and more. She can bring you almost any toy, book or object you ask her to go get. She gets her own washcloth out for bathtime now and loves brushing her own teeth. She also has a new love for bubble baths. She has made a smooth, complete transition to sippy cups from nursing and loves her whole milk. The past week she has also been extra snuggly and loves giving hugs, kisses, nose kisses, and gentle head butts. We are off to a good start in this world of toddler hood!
