Here we are in 2012! What a fun New Year's! I had to work New Year's Eve, but when I got home from work I was able to surprise Josh with a fun trip to Atlanta for his birthday (it's January 2). In the Webb household, we do birthday week. This means a small present for the 6 days leading up to your birthday and then your big present on your actual birthday. So this year, Josh's birthday week ended with a trip to Atlanta and tickets to see the Falcons play in the Georgia Dome. This was our first overnight trip without Avery. Needless to say, it was a little scary for me. I knew everything would be fine, but I've never spent more than 15 hours away from her and we were gone for over 48. It turned out great though! She had a blast with my mom and had lots of outside playing time. Not sure she even noticed we were gone!
Josh and I left Sunday morning bright and early to get to Atlanta. We checked into our hotel early and lucked out with a city view balcony :) From there we started our scenic walk to the Georgia Dome. The Olympic park was so pretty and open. They still had Christmas lights in the trees and a big ice skating rink in the middle. Josh wouldn't skate with me though. We were supposed to go to a 1:30 Falcons game, but it was moved to 4:15 (without my knowledge- i had no idea they could do that!). So we had some extra time. We had a great lunch and then went to do some window shopping before riding the subway back to the game. This was my first NFL game and it was so much fun! The Falcons needed to win this game in order to be in the playoffs, so the fans were excited and the team came out ready to win. By half time the Falcons were up by 41, I think. Our seats were in the lower level around the 10 yard line. They were so close we could see everything and with the Falcons scoring on every possession and making a few interceptions to bring it back and score, they were in front of us majority of the first half. We left after the beginning of the 4th quarter, since the Falcons were pulling their starters from the game. After resting our legs and feet a bit, we ended the night with a yummy sushi dinner from Ray's.
Monday morning, after 11 hours of sleep, we took our time getting ready and checked out of the hotel before having a yummy brunch at a local bakery. Then headed off to do some shopping before making the drive back home. We stopped at IKEA and couldn't believe how big it was. It just kept going and going. I was proud of us, we made it out of there spending less than $100. Our list of future purchases, however, is much more pricey. From there we went to Lenox Square, checked out some stores and then headed back to Nashville. It was a great trip and much needed relaxation time together! I hope we can get away again before too long- maybe somewhere warm and sunny :)
I can't make a New Year's post, without mentioning a few resolutions. As a couple, we try to have family resolutions and personal resolutions. So here are a few family resolutions for 2012. We are going to pay off both cars, save for a down payment on a new house and put our house on the market. We are also going to start using a juicer to try and get our daily intake of fruit and vegetables. Neither of us is that good at eating them, so hopefully combining them all into juice will make it easier. Well there are a few of our resolutions. Hope your new year is off to a great start!!
